As a filmmaker, photographer and extremely avid traveler, I seek to not just make this film to be interesting and entertaining having shot in another country.  I am definitely not even making this film as an excuse to travel back to a region and culture that I love beyond belief.  I am making this film because I love this culture and region so very much and they are so close to my heart and spirit that I want to introduce these people to you, our audience. My hope is to not give you an overview of who these people are in this land they live, but to give you an introduction into how these people are so amazing and beautifully similar to us in the "west."  Everyday media, western news organizations, and modern cinema have taught us that Africa is a country and that these people are either exotic in their practices or foreign on their customs.  We want to start breaking down that barrier with a narrative film showcasing the everyday humanity behind a people we are taught are so different from ourselves.  - Michael Notrica, Writer/Director/Producer Check our Campaign Updates Get These Amazing Perks! Terrible Tragedy In Nairobi

The Shukuru Foundation Dear Friend of The Shukuru Foundation: Many of you are aware of the terrible events of the past week in Nairobi.  We are very saddened by this terrible act of terrorism and feel that we need to do something to bring awareness to the situation and support to those impacted.  We created a simple wristband with the Kenyan Flag colors embedded with the words "Amani Kwa Kenya" - Peace for Kenya in Swahili.  These bands are for sale on our website at www.theshukurufoundation.com and by clicking the link below.  All proceeds will be donated to the Kenya Red Cross.
